How to remove eyelash glue from your eyes?

Eyelash glue can be removed with the eyelashes with the help of a makeup remover by dipping a cotton swab into it and rubbing it over the eyelashes and eyelids. It can also be removed by using a cotton ball dipped in any oil.

What is eyelash glue?

Eyelash glue is an adhesive that is used to attach the false eyelashes or lash extensions to the original eyelashes. It is important to choose the eyelash glue wisely as inappropriate glue can harm the eyelashes as well as the eye.

Cyanoacrylate is the main ingredient used in eyelash glue that gives it quick-drying properties. It is a chemical bonding agent.

It is made of cyanide and acrylate.

Though cyanide is harmful to the eyes, in the process of thickening the glue and making it adhesive, cyanide is completely neutralized and changes its harmful properties as the final product. It can thus be used near the eyes.

While cyanide provides thickness and adhesiveness, acrylate is known for its properties that let the glue dry up quickly when exposed to air.

How to remove eyelash glue from eyelashes?

The following are the steps to remove eyelash glue from the eyelashes using a makeup remover.

1. Using a makeup remover

The oil based formulas are the best when it comes to removing adhesives from the eyelashes. But it is only for the ones that have a single time use.

If you wish to reuse eyelashes for you use a single pair of false eyelashes which you take and remove regularly, then it is recommended to use a makeup remover that has an oil-free formula.

This is because oil based makeup removers tend to stay back on the eyelashes that make it difficult for the glue to stay on them and stick them again.

2. Use of a cotton swab dipped in eye makeup remover

The eye makeup removers are not recommended to be used directly on the area of the eye as they can cause irritation.

The eyes are a very delicate organ and any chemical can cause reactions and inflammations on it if used directly. It is therefore advised to dip a cotton swab in an eye makeup remover.

Squeeze the swab well before you apply it on the eyelashes and do not use concentrated solutions. Make sure that you use it only on your eyelashes and it does not go into the eyes.

Eyelash glue specifically designed for eyelashes can also be used instead of an eye makeup remover.

3. Using the swab along the lash line

When you find that your cotton swab has absorbed the makeup remover, gently swipe it along the lash line where the false eyelashes are attached with the eyelid.

The formula thus sweeps between the eyelashes and the eyelid and separates them.

4. Let the remover stay on the eyelids

It takes some time for the remover to completely dissolve the glue. So let it stay on the eyelids for 2-3 minutes.

You’ll come to know when your eyelashes start losing contact with the eyelids.

5. Remove the eyelashes

Start removing the eyelashes from the outer corner of the eye when you feel that it is loosening the attachment.

Pull it upwards and outwards before you hold the grip with fingers or tweezers.

6. Rub the eyelashes again with a swab

Take a cotton swab and dip it slightly in the makeup remover.

Make sure that it is not dripping and rub it along the eyelid and the eyelash band to remove any glue that may be left on the eyelashes after removal of the eyelash band.

7. Use your fingers to peel off the glue

After you’ve rubbed the lash band and eyelids with cotton swabs, use your fingers to peel off any extra glue that is left on the lashes or the eyelids.

You may use makeup remover again if you feel that glue is in a larger amount.

8. Wipe the remover and wash your face

The eye make-up remover leaves some residues on the eyes after the glue is completely removed.

Use a cotton swab dipped in water to remove the make-up remover and wash your face with a face wash.
